This essay faces some basic issues concerning the relation between sociology and Time. The phenomenon has always been at the centre of human reflection, leading to an enormous development of definitions, conceptions and methods of analysis, extended from the time of nature to the philosophical, psychological and finally sociological one. Beyond the difficulty of containing all this, there are some basic elements on which the article focuses its attention.
