The determination of wave-making resistance using the longitudinal cut method: preliminary experiences.
After introducing the principles at the basis of the calculation of wave-making resistance in a towing tank using the longitudinal cut method, the Authors provide the results of a series of model tests performed at the towing tank of the University of Trieste. This paper gives a description of the equipment used and a critical analysis of the experimental results obtained with a model and with a half model.
To further improve the reliability of the results, other instrumental, analytical and procedural variants are examined which can be applied to the adopted technique.
