Al centro di quest’articolo sta una questione intorno alla quale si è molto discusso ed è quella della fonte o delle fonti del Muspilli. Si tratta di un’opera a carattere dogmatico e moraleggiante sul Giudizio universale, scritta in versi allitterativi, in dialetto bavarese con frequenti tracce di dialetto francone meridionale. Dalle critiche più recenti si può desumere che la questione sia stata affrontata da un’angolatura nuova e diversa. Non si analizza più il testo con la fine di determinare la provenienza del materiale o di individuare nell’opera fonti e parti originarie singole, ma piuttosto si cerca di studiare la composizione, di illustrarne le caratteristiche proprie, di stabilire l’organicità e la coerenza interne e di pensiero. C’è quindi un tentativo di esaminare l’opera nel suo insieme con un metodo che l’autrice di quest’articolo ritiene il più giusto. This essay revolves around a question on which it has long been debated; that of the source or the sources of the Muspilli. The Muspilli is a work of dogmatic and moralising character on the Last Judgment, it is written in alliterative verses and in Baviarian dialect with frequent traces of South Franconian dialect. From the most recent critiques emerges a new and different perspective in the treatment of the question. The analysis is no longer aimed at the determination of the origins of the material or at the individuation of sources or original single parts in the text; the examination is now directed towards the study of the composition, the illustration of the text’s own features, the agreement upon the internal organicity and coherence of thought. The essay proposes the study of the work as a whole, with a method the author considers to be the fairest one.
