Abstract
Current populisms have little to do with classical or "historical populisms" (Russian, American, Latino-Americans): they are a global and essentially mediatic phenomenon. By summarizing the results of a recent book of mine, here I try to outline a definition of the word "populism", an explanation of the populist phenomenon, and some remedies.
