Abstract
This letter presents a theoretical method for evaluating the minimum contention window that maximises the throughput of an 802.11 network in which the use of directional or smart antennas enables the simultaneous coexistence of multiple communications between different node pairs. A simplified approach, derived from the complete analysis and validated by simulations, is proposed in order to reduce the complexity of the exact calculation.
