The paper focuses on the image of Apollo in archaic Etruria and aims to highlight how, in the reception of a Greek iconographic framework, the selection of figural features is calibrated to emphasise the characters and functions of Etruscan deities assimilated to the god. The images illustrate the Etruscan making of the visual identity of the God, autonomous but consistent with cultic coordinates: the incorporation of the anthropomorphic dimension through Greek iconography constitutes the result of a cultural and religious process which began around the end of the 7th century B.C. and whose logic can be contextualised.
