LA CITTÀ DI CURTEA DE ARGES (ROMANIA) NELLE CARTE TOPOGRAFICHE DEL NOVECENTO: UN’ANALISI DELL’ESPANSIONE URBANA IN AMBIENTE GIS LIBERO E OPEN S S OURCE THE TOWN OF CURTEA DE ARGES (ROMANIA) ON 20th CENTURY TOPOGRAPHIC MAPS S : ANALYSIS OF URBAN EXPANDING USING GIS FREE & OPEN SOURCE PROGRAMS

Lo scopo del lavoro è stato quello di analizzare con l’aiuto dei metodi cartografici moderni l’evoluzione territoriale della città di Curtea de Arges¸ Abbiamo osservato soprattutto le dinamiche del Novecento, periodo in cui quest’area ha subito un intenso processo di antropizzazione. Sono state analizzate e paragonate alcune carte topografiche stampate dagli anni 1900-1997. La buona sovrapponibilità delle carte ha permesso la ricostituzione in ambiente GIS delle dinamiche territoriali della città, mostrando l’utilità dell’uso dei programmi GIS Open Source (Quantum GIS, gvSIG, GRASS, Sextante) per gli studi della dinamica del paesaggio sulla base delle carte storiche. The aim of this study is, by using modern mapping methods, to analyze the spatial development of Curtea de Arges¸ town (Romania). A special concern aimed the 20th century dynamics, when a strong antropization process developed. A few topographic maps printed during1900-1997 were analyzed and compared. A good superposition of the maps, which were registered in the same reference system, allowed us to create a GIS model of the spatial dynamics of this town, proving at the same time how much useful are the GIS Open Source (Quantum GIS, gvSIG, GRASS, Sextante) when studying the landscape dynamics using historical maps.
