Italian sociological studies on Time have developed relatively late compared to the international path taken by this field of research. The article focuses on the causes of this delay, retraces the first projects launched and the subsequent rapid increase in interest that would have led the Italian sociology of the eighties to produce on the subject a large number of surveys and an important theoretical debate.
