Il presente contributo costituisce un tentativo di analisi globale di Cypr. Gall. Iud.
482-641. La sezione presa in esame, dedicata a Iud. 13:1-15:20, consente di osservare
all’opera le principali caratteristiche formali e funzionali della strategia parafrastica del
poeta: fedeltà al prototesto scritturistico (le cui peculiarità sono indagate nel dettaglio),
sostanziale disinteresse esegetico, larga adozione delle tecniche di abbreviazione, trasposizione
ed omissione. Si ricostruisce la fitta tramatura di intertesti poetici che sostanzia
la riscrittura metrica (rilevante in particolare, anche ai fini di confermare l’unico certo
terminus post quem per il poema, la ripresa di Claud. rapt. Pros. I 124-126 in Iud. 494-
495), e – per i punti di divergenza rispetto alla Scrittura – si avanza la possibilità del
ricorso ad ulteriori modelli in prosa. This paper aims to provide a global survey of Cypr. Gall. Iud. 482-641. This section of
the poem, dedicated to Iud. 13:1-15:20, allows readers to observe the functioning of the
most relevant formal and functional features of the poet’s paraphrastic technique: fidelity
to the Scriptural prototext (whose characteristics are thoroughly investigated), absence of
a specific exegetical interest, large adoption of the strategies of abbreviation, transposition,
and omission. A specific interest will be devoted to the reconstruction of the paraphrase’s
dense weaving of poetical intertexts (notable is in particular the reemployment of Claud.
rapt. Pros. I 124-126 at Iud. 494-495, also because it confirms the only certain terminus
post quem for the poem); for divergences from the biblical model, the possible adoption of
different prose models will also be discussed.
