The text offers an exposition and positive evaluation of the central developments in Canale’s book. In particular, in the first part a reconstruction is proposed, describing different articulations of a normative meta-ethics. In the second part a fruitful utilization of this meta-ethics is deployed so to give a critical reading of the arguments of the judges for the solution of some important contempo-rary practical conflicts. In the last part, the paper offers some questions on the implications of a normative meta-ethics from the point of view of a naturalistic sentimentalism.
