The analysis of inscriptions on a barrel lid found in the villa maritima of Isola della Punta (Mon- falcone, Gorizia), in the area of the karstic river Timavus, in the eastern part of the Aquileia territory, provides an opportunity to examine the production and trade of wine in this territory in the Roman age.
