Il prof. Lenaz ricorda gli anni di insegnamento di Letteratura Latina a Padova: egli diede grande importanza agli elementi della retorica e della metrica perché, benché sia rischioso imbrigliare l’interpretazione di un testo letterario in regole ferree, comunque questi stumenti sono essenziali: coloro che iniziano gli studi hanno bisogno di seguire una strada, ma la strada non dovrà essere troppo difficile, come Quintiliano nel proemio al libro settimo: via opus est incipientibus, sed ea plana.
