The process of the European integration has been evolving trough some very complex roads map. The Treaty of Rome, as signed in 19581, after some long initial efforts, was compacted into the small Europe following a path of incremental steps convergence and entered into the financial single market promoting a monetary union, the EMU, which was endorsed by the issuance of a single currency in the year 1998, the ECU.
