Between July 28 and September 1, 1917, the Genio della Regia Marina carried out significant works to upgrade the military seaport on the Gorgo Island in the Grado Lagoon. This led to the discovery of relevant port facilities and more than 200 transport amphorae from the early Roman imperial age. The paper’s goal is to solve topographical and archaeological problems associated with the difficult location of the excavation site.
