One of the most interesting aspects of the Brazilian urbanization of medium-sized cities, are its socio-cultural and economic processes and the new landscapes associated with the rural-urban articulation: the peri-urban interfaces. The authors investigate these forms of articulation and their reflections in the municipality of Lajeado, Rio Grande do Sul, through the identification and description of different typologies rose between the rural and the urban, and registered in the landscape. Such spaces have not been integrated into urban and regional planning and management; however, they come together in the landscape and are essential in the dynamics of the municipality.
