This contribution presents new information on the biography and artistic activity of Veronese painter, Odoardo Perini. Two letters of 1729 conserved in the Archivio dell'Accademia Clementina of Bologna attest to his relations with the court of Munich and with Bolognese academicians, particularly Ferdinando Galli Bibbiena. The letters make reference to a Bavarian sojourn by Perini, who worked for the king of Bavaria. A letter and file of documents found in the Archivio di Stato of Venice relating to the paintings executed by Perini for the ceiling of the Scuola Grande of San Giovanni Evangelista indicate that he arrived in Venice in 1731. summoned by Doge Alvise III Mocenigo. They describe the events that led to the Scuna commission for the ceiling paintings and record that the cycle included the central oval, which was substituted in 1760.
