I club operai hanno costituito oggetto di numerose ricerche di ambito storico- architettonico a partire dagli anni Sessanta, con la riscoperta delle avanguardie e la rivalutazione dell’eredità costruttivista. Assai meno approfonditi risultano invece gli aspetti relativi al byt e alle pratiche artistico-letterarie, spesso solo abbozzate o inevitabilmente naïve, scaturite dall’incontro fra le istanze di acculturazione “dall’alto” e le esigenze di rappresentazione e autorappresentazione di una società urbana ancora in costruzione. Spostando l’attenzione dalla “forma” del club al suo “contenuto”, dalle modalità di produzione dello spazio alla sua ricezione da parte delle masse, questo studio mira a restituire uno spaccato “minore” di vita quotidiana sovietica, un’analisi storico-culturale del fenomeno dei club operai condotta sulla base dei materiali teorici e pratici delle riviste Rabočij klub, Klub e Klub i revoljucija, stampate a Mosca fra il 1924 e il 1931. The workers’ clubs have been the subject of numerous historical architectural studies since the 1960s, with the rediscovery of the avant-garde and a reappraisal of the constructivist legacy. Much less is known, however, about the byt and the artistic and literary practices, often only outlined or inevitably naive, stemming from the encounter between the needs for acculturation “from above” and the need for representation and self-representation of an urban society still under construction. By shifting the focus from the “form” of the club to its “content”, from the ways in which the space was produced to its reception by the masses, this study aims to give an insight into a “minor” cross-section of Soviet everyday life, a historical-cultural analysis of the phenomenon of the workers’ clubs conducted on the basis of the theoretical and practical material provided by the journals Rabochii klub, Klub and Klub i revolyutsiya, published in Moscow from 1924 to 1931.
