Abstract
Introduction: Every day, millions of people connect to the internet to communicate with others and understand what’s happening in the world around them. I am one of them. In the last twenty years, a particular kind of website, the social network, has grown to enormous success and now dominates the way people use the internet. Many use social networks as their menu to the online world, a platform that aggregate all the things they are interested in. Social networks are not neutral – as no medium is. They are accessible and free to use, but are also based on complex algorithms and designed to make profit out of users.
