Uno dei principali obiettivi delle Film Commission è attirare le case di produzione cinematografiche nel proprio territorio di appartenenza, affinché il paesaggio naturale e urbano appaia e venga valorizzato nei film ed attragga a sua volta il turismo interno e internazionale all’interno di una strategia di marketing territoriale. Il volume ripercorre la nascita e lo sviluppo delle Film Commission, focalizzandosi sull’esperienza del Friuli Venezia Giulia, e censisce le location dei film ambientati a Trieste ed in Friuli dai primi anni Novanta ad oggi. In conclusione, quattro interviste ad altrettanti “addetti ai lavori” mirano a interpretare il rapporto tra territorio, location e cineasti, attori e sceneggiatori.
