  • book part

Abstract
The paper analyses the role of the radio Belgrade Electronic Studio on the development of experimental music in former Yugoslavia. After an overview on the musical situation in the Socialist Federal republic of Yugoslavia, it focuses on the role the composer Vladan radovanović had had on the foundation of the Studio and on the birth of a new and authentic Yugoslavian radiophonic music. Finally, the composition Malo Večno Jezero (The Eternal Lake) – winner of the Franco Zafrani Prize at the Prix Italia International radio-broadcasting and Television Award in 1984 – is analysed in detail: it offers a clear example of the impact of the radiophonic medium on musical composition practices.
