In this article I examine some of the themes of Mauro Magatti’s Oltre l’infinito. Storia della
potenza dal sacro alla tecnica. I argue that the utopian tension proper to religion has moved
into the technique and that this is a common element also with the spirit of capitalism and with
some recent ecological and communist utopias.
