Considers the theorizations of some scholars by evaluating them according to the chosen thematic approaches and the disciplinary perspectives adopted, trying to consider how theoretical trends of international reach have been assimilated. Trys to understand how Brazilian religious changes have been analyzed over the last two decades with particular reference to Catholicism, still the major religion in Brazil.
