The authors reflect on the law n.11.340/2006, promoted by Maria da Penha victim of domestic violence, and on its apparatus to combat violence against women which has brought, in 15 years of application, some positive changes in Brazil. However, there are still many challenges to be faced. Perhaps intersectionality could represent the best strategy for a more effective fight against these crimes.
