This brief essay offers a personal testimony and childhood memories of the initial studies on the Mithraeum of Duino Aurisina, as a way to honor my mother, Gabriella Gabrielli Pross, and her dedicated work for the love of art. Born in 1923 in Pirano d’Istria, Gabriella studied architecture and became an architect at the Superintendency of Trieste. She played a significant role in the discovery and study of the Mithraeum, which was a notable archaeological find. Her detailed study of the site’s architectural elements was published in 1975, contributing greatly to our understanding of this unique cave, hypogeal temple dedicated to the god Mithras.
