Considering the events that affected Brazil between 2013 and 2016 as a crisis of hegemony, the author analyses the impeachment of the President of the Republic, Dilma Rousseff, and the consequent election of Jair Bolsonaro as an authoritarian turn supported by the Brazilian ruling class. The hypothesis is that recent events in Brazil determined the closure of a political cycle that began in 1988 and the opening of a new phase. Keywords: Dilma, Bolsonaro, Brazil, authoritarianism, hegemony
