Abstract
This paper is focused on the relationship between heritage and design of the memory. If on the one hand the concept of heritage is rapidly changing, for the quantity and the temporal proximity of the fragile signs of which we have to take care, on the other hand, the project of the memory is a dynamic process, which converts existing things into something new and active by replacing things in time. This approach, which has complex variations, refers to the fragment, as an open reality, to the new layer in relationship to the compositional paradigms and to their mutual needs. A logic that is distant from the preservation, such as accurate reconstruction of the artifacts, and that is not the restoration project as a repetition of a frozen memory. The theme is investigated in relationship to the Heritage of War, substantial and widespread. An experimental project in Trentino is the tool to interpret, promote, preserve structures, infrastructures and war landscapes where the old architecture becomes the subject of the new architecture, in the game between evocation and invention, suggesting the minimal overwrites that draw expressiveness needed to revive these spaces, accompanying their transformation over time.
