Abstract
The article analyzes three works by the important Spanish playwright José Sanchis Sinisterra (Valencia, 1940), where he re-writes texts closely related to the Spanish baroque theatre, showing its large interest today, too. They are "El retablo de Eldorado" (1985), re-elaboration of Cervantes's "Retablo de las maravillas"; "Ñaque" (1980), a very interesting linguistic-literary pastiche mainly based on "El viaje entretenido" (1603) by Agustín de Rojas; and Sanchis Sinisterra's adaptation of Calderon's "La vida es sueño", which Sanchis wrote in 1981 and represented in Madrid in 1996 (by the Compañía Nacional de Teatro Clásico).
