Abstract
This paper is devoted to the so-called “Vorontsov’s translation” of Beccaria’s treatise “On Crimes and Punishments”, which is still in the archive
of Saint Petersburg Institute of History of the Russian Academy of Sciences. On the basis of textual analysis the author identified the source text and then examines the language of “Vorontsov’s translation” in comparison with other translations of Beccaria’s treatise of the early 19th century. The translator is identified as Ivan Tatishchev, who worked on translations from French, German and English at the turn of the 18th and 19th centuries.
Статья посвящена так называемому «Воронцовскому переводу» книги Беккариа «О преступлениях и наказаниях», который до сих пор
хранится в архиве Санкт-Петербургского Института истории РАН, в фонде Воронцовых. На основе текстового анализа в статье устанавливается источник перевода и затем рассматривается язык «Воронцовского перевода» сравнительно с другими переводами книги Беккариа начала XIX в. Автор приходит к выводу, что переводчиком выступил И.И. Татищев, который на рубеже XVIII и XIX вв. трудился над переводами с французского, немецкого и английского языков.
