The article discusses some issues addressed in Fabio Ciaramelli's recent book. They deal with the relationship between the search for a public justification of legality, indispensable in contemporary constitutional democracies, and the problems that legal methodology raises and that concern the controllability of decisions in the context of legal positivization.
