Abstract
Il lavoro intende discutere del ruolo indispensabile che la cartografia
può fornire per dare senso alle azioni delle più recenti e innovative
politiche per la città, per le quali deve naturalmente essere contemplato
il ricorso alla loro definizione geografica. Nel rapporto tra nuove
città e azioni legate al digitale, si vuole infatti osservare come la
rappresentazione assuma la funzione, per essa innata ma in questo
caso non scontata, di ancorare geograficamente quella molteplicità
di azioni, fisiche e immateriali, dette intelligenti, attivate per migliorare
la gestione degli spazi e la qualità della vita dei cittadini, la
produttività delle imprese e la partecipazione collettiva alle scelte di
politica urbana. Oltre che la naturale funzione di rappresentare, ubicare
e mettere in relazione spazio e azione, la carta con le sue varie
definizioni operative (ad esempio le piattaforme web GIS dedicate)
è vista in un’ottica innovata di elemento chiave del processo smart
della nuova città, intelligente e sostenibile. This paper intends to examine the fundamental role played by cartography
in giving meaning to the actions of the most recent and innovative
policies for the city, for which the use of their geographical
definition must be contemplated.
Within the relationship between new ways of conceiving the city and
digital actions, we wish to observe how the cartographic representation
takes on the function, innate but in this case not predictable, of
geographically anchoring a multiplicity of actions, both tangible and
intangible, considered smart, activated to improve the management
of space and the quality of life of citizens, the productivity of businesses
and the collective participation in the choices of urban policy.
The geographical representation, with its various operational definitions
(e.g. the dedicated Web-GIS platforms), as well as covering its
natural functions, from an innovative point of view is seen as an element
key to the defining process of the new city, smart and sustainable.
