Polydimethylsiloxanes (PDMS) are surfactants largely used in supercritical conditions for different applications.
Polydimethylsiloxanes with relatively low molecular weight have been used; their solubility in supercritical carbon dioxide at different conditions has been determined.
They can be successfully used for increasing the solubility of some drugs in supercritical carbon dioxide; moreover the use of PDMS for the production of controlled drug release products has been also evaluated.
