Language in the mirror of cultures
The book consists of five parts. The first two chapters contains a review of significant foreign and home findings on phenomena connected with ethnicity and communicative competence. However, two own concepts are also exposed, of ethnic awareness and language communicative competence. In the third part there is a short socio-historical description of Koper as the urban centre of Slovene Istra; in the fourth chapter the suitability of the used methods is pointed out; the last, fifth part presents an empirical research, based on a questionnaire and interviews, which studies the connection between ethnic awareness and language communicative competence and use of language among the representative sample of Slovene population in Koper.
