Il contributo studia l’influenza dell’antica
leggenda della ferita di Venere dopo la
morte di Adone (la spina di Venere) sullo
sviluppo delle immagini di ‘Venere Spinaria’
nel Rinascimento: questa influenza,
dovuta al peso dell’‘anacreontismo’ nelle
rappresentazioni dell’amore, è stata
rafforzata dalle immagini di ‘Spinari’, in
particolare il famoso ‘Spinario Capitolino’.
È così che una leggenda piuttosto rara e
tarda nell’Antichità divenne un famoso
tema iconografico nel Rinascimento, tanto
da orientare erroneamente l’interpretazione
di altri documenti. The contribution studies the influence of the
ancient legend of the injury received by Venus
after Adonis’ death (i.e. the ‘thorn of Venus’) on
the development of images of ‘Venus Spinaria’
(Thorn Puller) during the Renaissance: this
influence, due to the weight of ‘anacreontism’ in
mental representations of love was reinforced by
ancient images of thorn pullers, in particular the
famous Capitoline ‘Spinario’. Thus a rather rare
and late legend in Antiquity became a famous
iconographic theme in the Renaissance to the
point of misleading the interpretation of other
documents.
