Non si può dire che cinquant’anni fa le strade di Pier
Paolo Pasolini e dei Beatles si siano incrociate, però nelle
opere letterarie e cinematografiche dell’intellettuale
friulano ci sono frequenti rimandi al ballo ed alla musica,
anche a quella moderna, le canzonette per intenderci,
con qualche rara incursione nella musica leggera
degli anni Sessanta: quando conosce Ninetto lo descrive
come un ragazzo beatlesiano, con lui va a ballare al Piper
di Roma, lo fa ballare di sovente nei suoi film. Anche
se, di base, quella musica non gli piace, lui ama il Settecento
di Bach, Mozart e Vivaldi, anche se per caratterizzare
la tragedia di Medea nell’Orestiade africana ricorre
allo struggente sax di Gato Barbieri. We can’t say that the lives of Pier Paolo Pasolini

intellectual of Friuli there are many references
to dance and music, also to popular music, pop
songs I mean, and some rare irruptions into the pop music of Sixties: when he knows Ninetto,

Club in Rom, let him dance in his films. Pasolini
does’n’t like pop music, he loves music of the baroque
Settecento, from Bach to Mozart and Vivaldi,
even if he resorts to the yearning sax of Gato
Barbieri to describe the tragedy of Medea filming
the Orestiade africana.
