The need of reducing wave making generated by motorboats and speedy crafts in the canals and lagoon of Venice, require the design of new hull types. This requirement is particularly needed for the local private transportation of passengers, performed by using taxi boats . New innovative designs were recently defined and studied: they are the catamaran taxi and the Mini taxi. The first had to be used for the lagoon passenger transportation, whereas the second will be used for the town service. For the Mini Taxi alternative and ecological propulsive systems are also currently being studied, such as the hybrid and the full electrical propulsion system.
