The Patriarchal and Synodal Act of 1928, the praxis, regulated the complex ecclesiastical situation of the eparchies of the New Lands, until then legally dependent on the Ecumenical Patriarchate of Constantinople, but subject to the administration of the Greek state. The praxis assigned the administration of the eparchies to the autocephalous Greek Church, but it left some prerogatives of the Patriarchate over these territories undiminished.
