Lo studio sistematico dei nomi delle famiglie aquileiesi di età repubblicana, condotto su base prevalentemente epigrafica, ha consentito di formulare alcune ipotesi sull’origo delle gentes deductae e di precisare alcune modalità di integrazione fra i coloni del 181 e del 169 a.C. e gli autoctoni. In questo contributo si prendono in esame alcune iscrizioni che potrebbero documentare, ancora su base onomastica, eventuali matrimoni misti fra indigeni (ex incolae divenuti prima coloni poi municipes) e gli esponenti della compagine romano-latino-italica (o i loro discendenti). Il fatto di trovarci ad Aquileia, in origine fondazione di diritto latino in una terra di confine fra i Veneti e i ‘barbari’ Galli, Istri e Illiri, rende molto più complesso questo tipo d’indagine e vari gli esiti.
The systematic study of the names of the families documented in Aquileia in the republican age, based on epigraphic evidence, allowed to formulate some hypotheses on the origo of the gentes deductae and clarify certain mode of integration between the coloni of 181 and 169 BC and the natives. In this paper I focus on some inscriptions that could document, on the basis of onomastics, patterns of intermarriage between local inhabitants (former incolae become first coloni then municipes) and the colonists (or their descendants). The fact that we find in Aquileia, originally founded as Latin colony in a borderland between the Veneti and the 'barbarian' Galli, Histri and Illyrii, makes this type of investigation much more complex and produces different results.
