In the last 10 years, the interpreting profession has changed in many respects. The teaching and training of interpreting have changed accordingly. The contribution examines new research lines in the field of interpreting in general and simultaneous interpreting in particular. Empirical studies, corpora studies, investigation of interpreters' personalities in literature and films belong to the new interpreting research sectors analyzed.
