Il presente studio è un’edizione commentata di un frasario in bawlé, originariamente redatto in francese e poi tradotto in italiano, scritto da padre Vincent Guerry, monaco benedettino il cui lavoro sulla cultura bawlé è universalmente conosciuto. Il suo libro, "La vie quotidienne dans un village baoulé", è un classico piú volte ristampato.
Il "Frasario" di padre Vincent Guerry non è un vocabolario, nonostante ne abbia, almeno in parte, la struttura esteriore: è alquanto raro, infatti, che l’autore segnali lemmi per la loro specificità semantica. Non è un sussidio per apprendere la lingua, poiché sin troppo evidenti sarebbero le lacune, e nemmeno una raccolta di frasi “utili”, poiché anche da questo punto di vista le lacune sarebbero troppe. Esso riflette un’esperienza reale: ci sono molte frasi che in se stesse non significano affatto ciò che padre Guerry traduce, ma sono comprensibili solo in un contesto particolare: in questi casi l’autore si è cioè limitato a registrare alcune frasi in rapporto a determinate situazioni. The present study is a commented edition of a bawlé phrase, originally written in French and then translated into Italian, written by Father Vincent Guerry, a Benedictine monk whose work on bawlé culture is universally known. His book, "La vie giornidienne dans a village baoulé", is a classic repeatedly reprinted. The "Frasario" by Father Vincent Guerry is not a vocabulary, although it has, at least in part, the external structure: it is quite rare that the author signals limbs for their semantic specificity. It is not an aid to learn the language, since the gaps are too obvious, and not even a collection of "useful" phrases, since even in this respect gaps would be too much. It reflects a real experience: there are many phrases that in themselves do not mean what Father Guerry translates, but they are understandable only in a particular context: in these cases the author is limited to recording some phrases in relation to Certain situations.
