This article will analyse the particular configuration of Berni’s remaking of the Innamoramento de’Orlando by Matteo Maria Boiardo. Even though Berni intends to propose a new order of norm, for both thematic and stilistical issues, the result is tending towards the creation of a hybridised text, where the values inspired by a practice of purified Christianity are mixed with the refined estensi ideals and chivalrous courtesy emerging in every octave of Boiardo’s text.
