In the narrative of Giuseppe O. Longo mention is often made of different aspects of the body: sex,
illness and the flow of time. In particular Longo is interested in food, that occupies the centre of
a complex network of meanings. As the several quotations show, food prompts audacious lexical
and syntactic virtuousity, that cause a sense of admiration and astonishment in the reader that,
like food, can produce dependency and addiction.
