The Author reflects about the perception of the Colonization of the Americas in Venetian culture of the sixteenth century; he proceeds examining in particular some sources of political and literary nature, and the official reports written by Venetian diplomats, in mission at the Courts of Charles V and Philip II. From the analysis, the perception of the American events appears to be very diverse, varying according to personal sensitivity and political opinion of each single historical characters.
