Review of the 43rd International Symposium of the Institute of European Studies "Antonio Rosmini" on "Europe and the Codification. 200 Years of the Code Napoleon " (14th, 15th and 16th October 2004). Two centuries after the entry into force of the French Civil Code, the discussion on the compatibility between the coding and the tradition of ius commune involves the very meaning of law in Europe and reopens the question of the relationship between existing legal systems and natural right.
