Reading the impressive plaster sculptural group of Martinuzzi (1963, signed) inside the Santa Maria of
Lourdes Church, at Mestre – an unicum in the artistic production of our sculptor – the author finds stylistic
references to the long course of the venetian plastic art, from Byzantine influences to that 15th century ones,
and more recent formal consonances to the main avant-garde movements of the 1900 first decades.
