Il ripostiglio di asce in pietra levigata da Volterra (Pisa), località Sant'Alessandro: un ipotetico deposito di ceraunia?

Viene qui presentato un gruppo di manufatti in pietra levigata rinvenuti nel 2016 a Volterra (Pisa), in località Sant’Alessandro, in un ripostiglio sottostante un contesto che ha restituito esclusivamente materiali dell’Orientalizzante recente (metà del VII - inizi VI sec. a.C.). Subito al di sotto di una struttura abitativa, venne messa in luce una fossa contenente 5 oggetti in pietra levigata, riferibili al Neolitico e realizzati in metaofioliti High Pressure delle Alpi occidentali, e 1 manufatto in selce scheggiata. Si tratta di uno dei rari depositi di oggetti in pietra verde noti in Italia. Considerata l’assenza di materiali neolitici nell’area e la posizione stratigrafica della fossa, è anche possibile ipotizzare se pur con prudenza che questi oggetti siano stati raccolti come ceraunia dalle popolazioni dell’età del Ferro, come già documentato in altri siti dello stesso periodo. Here is presented a group of polished axe heads found in 2016 in Volterra (Pisa), in a place named Sant’Alessandro, underlyingin a context that has returned only materials of the recent Orientalizing (mid-7th - beginning of 6th century b.C.). Immediately below a housing structure, a pit containing 5 objects in polished stone and 1 chipped stone tool, referable to the Neolithic Age and made in High Pressure metaophiolites of the Western Alps, was brought to light. It is one of the rare hoards of green stone objects known in Italy. Given the absence of Neolithic materials in the area and the stratigraphic position of the pit, it is also possible to assume with prudence that these objects were collected as cerauniaby the Iron Age populations, as already documented in other sites of the same period.
