The stability of a family of fishing vessels is examined by applying both IMO General and Weather criteria, as well as the Energy-balance method first introduced by Strathclyde University. It appears that the General criterion is less restrictive (in terms of KG_max) than Weather criterion and both fall into a region of approximately 20-30% of net-area positive according to the Energy-balance method. An analysis of the threshold for the onset of parametric rolling in a following sea reveals the extreme sensitivity of this vessel typology to such a particular capsizing mechanism.
