This article deals with reviews from a text-linguistic, media-scientific and didactic point of view. Firstly, it discusses this specific text type and its validity through a critical examination of the pertaining literature. It then examines the features and constitutive elements of reviews from a pragmatic-linguistic point of view and reveals the didactic potential of this text type for the training of translators. Finally, it outlines the conditions and criteria for the creation of the TransLab corpus.
