The article examines the reality of the colony of Aquileia, a Latin colony
founded in 181 B.C. at the eastern end of the future province of Cisalpine Gaul. We observe probable phenomena of continuity with the pre-Roman reality, for example, in the funerary customs of the new settlers and certainly in the organisation of the territory and in particular in the definition of vici and pagi.
