RICCARDI, ALESSANDRA

  • book part

Abstract
Simultaneous interpreting is a procedural knowledge whose components and processes are intertwined. As a product simultaneous interpreting is conditioned by the limits imposed by the communicative setting, They are speed of delivery, the speakers's style, morphosyntactic differences between the languages involved. After an overview of studies on this subject, strategies applied by professional simultaneous interpreters are described. Strategies are not always easy to classify, hence their description and teaching is an important part of interpreting training, it helps students to become aware of professional interpreters' solutions leading to quality interpreting.
