Military heritage in our territory is very extensive, if the major structures are more obvious no less are strategically important so many small hypogean stations. The first ones are a few hundred, while the latter are over a thousand.
In order to have a comprehensive picture of the permanent fortification of the eastern border, I believe that its deeper knowledge is decisive, in order to obtain it I started from the documents, texts and iconography found in the archives of the Department of Civil Affairs and Military Servants of Udine and those published, available in essays, magazines, newspapers and the internet, to conclude with redrawing and on site verification. In this way, between confirmations, discrepancies and denials is taking shape a figure formed by works and workplaces that in the eighties were still operative and therefore carefully maintained and camouflaged.
Research on the permanent fortification of the eastern border is still ongoing. Partial results are in the degree thesis, didactic and scientific communications: an example is the complex of San Quirino and the permanent fortification of the valleys of Natisone, from the port of Caporetto to Cividale del Friuli, because its characteristics make it meaningful to understand the complexity of the whole defensive system.
In fact, my research goal is to get an overall picture of the defensive system that has affected our territory for fifty years, transforming it both in its construction years and in its disposal.
